Confirm the acceptance basis

Collect the approved drawing revision, model and module references, finish schedule, accessory schedule, electrical information and agreed local scope. Mark any approved site change so the completed work is not checked against an obsolete drawing.

  • Approved plan, elevations and module labels
  • Latest product and accessory schedule
  • Local structural, foundation and electrical approvals
  • Installation, commissioning and severe-weather instructions
  • Agreed exclusions and local contractor responsibilities

Posts, frame and support

Check that posts and beams match the approved layout, remain aligned and are securely connected to the prepared supports. Look for unintended movement, unapproved holes, damaged finish, trapped water and interfaces that block doors, paths or later maintenance.

Roof movement and operating limits

Run the roof through its intended travel and observe each bay. Louvers or retractable elements should move without rubbing, obstruction or abnormal noise. Confirm the safe operating position and that users understand any wind, snow, ice or maintenance restrictions supplied for the selected system.

Drainage test

Inspect roof channels, gutters, module joints, selected outlet posts and the connection to the site drainage. A controlled water test can reveal blocked channels, incorrect falls, disconnected outlets or discharge that creates ponding. The test should follow the project method and must not be represented as proof of performance beyond the agreed conditions.

  • Remove installation debris from channels
  • Confirm every outlet post and discharge point
  • Check entrances, façades, paving and accessible routes for unwanted runoff
  • Record any leak location before applying additional sealant

Motors, controls and electrical systems

Test each roof, screen, lighting, fan and heater zone separately and in the intended operating groups. Confirm labels, switch directions, remote functions, isolation points and service access. A qualified local electrician should complete the final electrical inspection and testing.

ZIP screens, glass and other accessories

Operate every accessory through its normal range. Screens need a clear guide path and correctly finished openings. Glass requires smooth panel travel, suitable parking and an accepted threshold. Lighting, heaters and fans need the planned clearances, controls and maintainable connections.

Cleaning, labels and spare parts

Remove protective film, swarf, packaging and construction residue using methods suitable for the finish. Keep model, controller and order references legible. Count the agreed spare parts, touch-up materials, remotes, keys and special tools before the installation team leaves.

Handover documents

Provide the documents that let the owner or operator use and maintain the installed system.

  • Approved as-installed drawings or recorded changes
  • Operating and cleaning instructions
  • Motor, controller and accessory references
  • Electrical test and local approval records where applicable
  • Drainage and maintenance access information
  • Warranty terms tied to the actual supplied scope
  • Contact route for service and replacement-part identification

Punch list and final acceptance

List every incomplete, damaged or non-conforming item with a location, photograph, responsible party and target close-out date. Retest affected systems after correction. Final acceptance should identify what was checked, what remains outside the supplier's scope and which documents were handed to the owner or operator.

Common questions

Who should sign the pergola handover?+

The responsible installer and the buyer or project representative should record acceptance. Local structural and electrical sign-off should be completed by the qualified parties required in the project location.

Should drainage be tested before handover?+

Yes, where the project method allows it. Check the designed path from collection channels to the final site discharge and record any blockage, leak or ponding.

What should be tested on a motorized pergola?+

Test each roof and accessory zone, controls, limits, isolation, service access and the supplied safe-operating instructions.

What photographs should be retained?+

Keep overall views, post bases before concealment, module labels, roof and outlet details, accessory interfaces, electrical service positions and every punch-list item.

Does this checklist replace local inspection?+

No. It is a coordination checklist. Required structural, electrical, waterproofing and building approvals remain with the qualified local project team.
